Happy Earth Day!

April 22, 2026 by Women Watch Afrika

Happy Earth Day! Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Earth Day is an annual celebration to honor the achievements of the environmental movement and to raise awareness of the importance of long-term ecological sustainability.

First held on April 22, 1970, Earth Day now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EARTHDAY.ORG (formerly Earth Day Network) including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries!

So how can you participate? You can participate in voter education and voter registration, town-hall meetings, tree-planting, community cleanups, community organizing, teach-ins, peaceful demonstrations, or support organizations doing the work to better the community by donating (womenwatchafrika.org/donate) or volunteering. The choice is yours–make your impact today!
