Women Watch Afrika (WWA) condemns and denounces the targeted senseless shooting and killing of four Muslim men in New Mexico

August 8, 2022 by Preye Cobham, Esq.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 8, 2022

Women Watch Afrika (WWA) condemns and denounces the targeted senseless shooting and killing of four Muslim men in New Mexico, which police say may be connected and could be hate crimes.

Women Watch Afrika sends condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and to community as a whole. This was yet another act of senseless gun violence. Women Watch Afrika is making a call for more Federal resources to supplement local efforts as there is a serious concern that this may be a potential serial killing issue.

Additionally, Women Watch Afrika is making an urgent call to the United States Supreme Court to take a position on gun control.  The Supreme Court is more concerned about undeveloped fetus in the womb but is exposing our children to gun violence and death by gun violence everyday.  Guns take more lives in the US than all the alleged abortions performed totaled.  This trauma is becoming too frequent. Enough is Enough.

As mothers, and as individuals who work in communities where the majority have experienced war, the frequent shootings and killings provoke traumatic flashbacks.  WWA asks that as part of the route for justice for the victims, gun control must be considered.  We need to protect our children, our families, and our communities.

This is a time for action.   This heinous act affects us all.  We cannot be silent.
