HAPPY NEW YEAR and THANK YOU!
As we reflect on the year 2022 has been, Women Watch Afrika is thankful for all our successes and for overcoming challenges.
We served over 750 families this year and are on track to meet or exceed that number in the next year. Women Watch Afrika provided much needed support: rental assistance to 280 families, monthly communal food and COVID-19 support to 335 families, diapers to 85 nursing mothers in need, paid for funeral costs caused by the pandemic, and provided financial assistance to refugees and immigrants who have lost their breadwinners due to domestic violence, COVID-19, and ICE Immigration raids. Additionally, our November 23, 2022 Turkey Day Communal Support event, one of our biggest and signature monthly outreach, was a smashing SUCCESS! Women Watch Afrika provided over 120 Turkeys (Halal, Kosher, and regular), Food items, Household items, and COVID test kits, masks, and sanitizers to the community.
Women Watch Afrika worked on the frontline, advocated for Women’s Rights, Immigrant Rights, and Voting Rights at the Georgia State Capitol, and brought much needed light to Redistricting Education, Voter Education, Voter Registration, and Voter Engagement, including our lawsuit on SB 202. We conducted numerous successful voter registration outreach to register new voters, newly naturalized citizens, and new residents. We had effective voter outreach and engagement through phone banking, text banking, canvassing, radio and social media announcements, drop leaflets, and in-person events. Women Watch Afrika made over 50,000 phone calls, sent over 600,000 texts and whatsapp messages, knocked on 5,000 doors, made over 50 radio ads and conversational sessions, made over 1 million digital ad impressions to Georgians in English, Yoruba, Swahili, and French, and delivered over 50,000 pieces of mail.
These are but a few of our successes that were made possible by the support of our team, funders, donors, and volunteers. WE would not be able to do what we do without YOU ALL.
Women Watch Afrika is very thankful for all our Funders, Donors, and Volunteers for supporting us to make a difference in the lives of BIPOC one family at a time.
We look forward to new achievements with you in 2023!
Women Watch Afrika wishes you all a safe New Year’s Eve. May 2023 be filled with good health, peace, and prosperity.
Happy New Year!
