Women Watch Afrika Says NO to ALL Bills that Disenfranchise Citizens

February 1, 2021 by Preye Cobham, Esq.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Press Conference Notice — Atlanta, GA –Tomorrow, Tuesday, 2/2/2021 at 10 a.m.

Women Watch Afrika is proud of Georgia Voters & of our Voters Education Program! In spite of a pandemic, #Georgia voters showed up and showed out in the 2020 elections AND the January runoff. Georgia had a safe and secure election, record voter turnout, and excited voters.

We cannot and will not allow the historic turnout of the 2020 elections to be clouded with false & misleading claims of voter fraud. There was NO widespread voter fraud in Georgia. Our focus needs to be on how we can build on the landmark accomplishments of the last election cycle.

Let’s be clear: The Georgia Landmark Elections of 2020 and the 2021 U.S. Senate runoffs proved that No-excuse vote by mail is a successful and viable option for Georgia’s Elections. We should be expanding voting options, not making it harder to vote.

Voting is one of the most important tools for change we have in a democracy. That’s why we’re saying NO to regressive voter ID requirements that could serve as a disincentive to voting by mail. We stand against any attempts at Voter Suppression.

Women Watch Afrika will always advocate for Civic Engagement and Education, Voter Empowerment, Fair and Open Elections, and Integrity in the Voting System.

Georgia should focus on Expanding Voters Access instead of trying to disenfranchise Citizens. Don’t target minorities & the elderly and the economically disadvantaged with suppressive new voting requirements.
