Women Watch Afrika’s Statement on the Passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

September 19, 2020 by Preye Cobham, Esq. Leave a Comment

A Pioneer, a Champion, and a Warrior, Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a transformative game changer. She used her intelligence and genius to make a change, fighting for equality, for justice, and to impact not just her community but the country and the world around her.

Even in the face of challenges, she never gave up. She fought the good fight–both political and personal, fighting injustice wherever she came across it, and left the world in a better place than she found it.

She always gave her best and worked to “repair tears in the society.” She fought legal battles to lay the groundwork for women rights and fought against sex discrimination.

On Friday, September 18, 2020, after fighting and beating several cancer diagnosis, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg transitioned, due to complications from metastatic cancer of the pancreas. She was 87.  She had served 27 years on the nation’s highest court and had planned to serve until she was 90.  And through numerous health, personal, and sometimes professional challenges, she made her time with us count–she worked until the very end and her focus was always a better community.

While she may not have accomplished her final goal, she has left a Legacy that will never be forgotten and accomplished even more than she herself may have realized. She was the most prominent member of the United States Supreme Court and was/is an inspiration to many.  She is the definition of a Phenomenal Woman.  She was a Super Hero.  May she Rest in Power.
