Women Watch Afrika Community Census Count & COVID-19 Support Day Outdoor Event was a SUCCESS!

June 29, 2020 by Preye Cobham, Esq.

A BIG THANK YOU to all that Supported, came to Volunteer, and shared the information. Women Watch Afrika Community Census Count & COVID19 Support Day Outdoor Event was a HUGE SUCCESS! The turnout was fantastic and beyond expectations!

Women Watch Afrika created 150 Large Grocery Bags filled with Bags of Rice, Boxes of Noodles, Fresh Habanero Peppers, Vegetable Oil, Canned Tomato Sauce, Canned Tomato Paste, Canned Diced Tomatoes, Fresh Onions, Potatoes, Bath Tissues, etc. Additionally we gave out Disposable Masks, WWA African Cloth Masks, Towels, and Information on the 2020 Census and Census Swag. Lastly, we were also giving out cooked meals in honor and recognition of 2020 World Refugee Day. WE. RAN. OUT. OF. EVERYTHING! The turn out was so great, MORE than 150 families showed up!

Shout out to our supporters who brought extra swag for give away: extra cloth masks, flashlight, period on the go bags, more census materials and swag, etc. But even with all that we had to scramble to create 25 more grocery bags for 25 extra families and promptly RAN OUT again as more and more people kept showing up. We eventually had to call it after a third round of fast shopping and bagging–we were TAPPED OUT! Lol.

Thank you all for supporting, participating, sharing, volunteering, etc. It was a wonderful event, and many families were touched and assisted! 😍

***Note: Proper Social Distancing was followed, the line was properly demarcated with signs on the ground, all Volunteers wore Masks, Gloves, PPEs, etc.
