Call to Action!
The Communities Over Cages: Close the Jail ATL Campaign has come together to apply pressure to Fulton County Commissioners during this health crisis. They are meeting THIS MORNING at 10AM. We need you to demand they end nonessential detentions to avoid a COVID jail outbreak!
While people are working to reduce the population at the Fulton County Jail, the current plan is not enough. Unless Fulton County takes immediate further action, the jail’s outbreak is on pace to seriously endanger the lives of detainees, staff — and will ultimately threaten to overwhelm Grady Hospital’s ICU
Fulton County Commissioners must take desperately needed leadership to coordinate the release of over 500 people by Friday. They must insist that the Sheriffs Department, the DAs office, the judges and all stakeholders do their part NOW to avoid this public health disaster.
The Commissioners are meeting at 10am ET. Join the meeting at FGTV (https://www.fultoncountyga.gov/watch-fgtv?link_id=3&can_id=fbb0a71776bf182d416001e3e7665abc&source=email-demand-fulton-county-end-nonessential-detentions-to-avoid-covid-jail-outbreak&email_referrer=email_765521&email_subject=demand-fulton-county-end-nonessential-detentions-to-avoid-covid-jail-outbreak) or on YouTube.
