On August 20, 2018, Women Watch Afrika, along with many other organizations and members of the community, rallied and attended the Atlanta City Council session at the Council Chambers at City Hall to demand the city CANCEL the contract with ICE and CLOSE the Atlanta city jail!
Testimonies were given and the community rallied to ask why this “bonus” jail was still in existence? Glory Kilanko Founder and Executive Director of Women Watch Afrika, Inc. spoke to the Council Members about the pain and effects on the family of her community members who are incarcerated.
It was recommended that moneys being spent on the jail should be spent to better improved the community.
As an expert in this field, Women Watch Afrika provides trainings as a consultant on the issue.
